About The Company...
Direct Welsh Lamb is made up of just five farmers from the Dyfi Valley in mid-Wales. Aled Rees, Idris Evans, Gwyn Evans, Meirion Roberts and Dewi Owen got together in 1998 to set up their own direct marketing company.
Their objectives were simple - to sell top quality, totally traceable produce direct to the consumer at best value-for-money prices.
And by cutting out the middlemen they also pay themselves a little more too!
Our History...
Livestock farming has always been tough. But over the last few years it's got tougher still for the family farmers of mid Wales. In fact the number of farms in Wales is falling at a dramatic rate - around 400 went out of business last year alone.
That's why three years ago the men behind direct Welsh Lamb started looking at new ways of selling their produce. And although mail-order isn't a new idea - it's been operating efficiently and successfully almost since the postal service was invented - direct Welsh Lamb was one of the first to start selling meat mail order in Wales when it went into business three years ago.
We were the first Welsh company at the BBC Good Food Show, we've won taste awards for our produce and we were amongst the first Welsh companies at the Northern Food and Drink Show.
